AllWeather Roofing Compound

A bituminous solution for overall waterproofing of roofs which can be applied on to dry surfaces all year round. For the waterproofing of most types of surfaces to include galvanized steel, iron, lead, zinc, asbestos cement, asphalt and bituminous roof coatings. Moderate surface cracking to felt and asphalt surfaces may be filled with Trowel Mastic. Badly cracked surfaces should be covered with a layer of roofing felt bedded in Roofing Felt Adhesive. Stir the container thoroughly before use.  Allweather Roofing Compound may be applied by brush.

Do not apply in wet weather or when poor drying conditions exist. Do not coat rooflights, windows, glass or translucent sheets as they will constitute a hidden hazard.  Apply two coats of Allweather Roofing at a rate of 1-1.5m2 per litre allowing the first coat to dry before application of the second coat.  On overlaps of roofing sheet materials and slates subject to flexing, a glass membrane treatment bridging overlaps is recommended.  The membrane should be bedded into the first coat of Allweather Roofing Compound whilst it is still wet.

Aluminium Paint

A solvent based bituminous Aluminium Paint containing a specially selected grade of bitumen and a leafing grade aluminium flake, which provides a solar reflective finish for bituminous roof surfaces, steel and corrugated iron.  Application must be in two coats, the second coat must be applied 24 hours after the first coat.  Freshly applied coatings should be allowed to weather for three to four weeks prior to the application of the Aluminium Paint. STIR THE CONTAINER THOROUGHLY BEFORE USE to ensure that no deposits are left on the bottom of the container.  Apply by brush, roller or spray. Do not brush excessively as this causes softening of the substrate and staining.  Do not apply in wet weather or when rain is threatened or when poor drying conditions exist.  The rate of application is between 5-10m2per litre per coat depending upon the condition of the surface. The product has a storage life of 12-18 months, under good conditions. Store in a cool dry place away from all sources of ignition In tightly closed containers.

Bitumen Primer

A low viscosity bitumen primer for use on porous surfaces before remedial roof treatments, including pour and roll, and torch on felt applications. For use on metal, concrete, asbestos cement, slate, lightweight concrete screeds, roofing felt and asphalt. Apply by brush or spray.  Bitumen primer may be applied to slightly damp surfaces but do not apply in wet weather, when rain is threatened or when poor drying conditions exist. Cromar bituminous primer should be applied evenly across the surface in one coating. Primer is resistant to water within 20-30 minutes. It is essential after priming concrete or screeded surfaces the coating is completely free of solvent, and therefore a safe drying time of two hours should be allowed. Coverage will be in the region of 6-8m2 per litre dependent on the porosity of the surface.

Cromapol

A high performance acrylic based roof coating containing fibres. Can be used without a primer and has the ability to be applied in damp conditions on most surfaces. Cromapol will waterproof instantly, even while wet, and will not wash off while curing. Will withstand ponding and covers in only one coat which normally needs no primer!

Cromapol Advantages:Cromapol

  • Great adhesion
  • Application in damp weather
  • Instant protection
  • No wash off
  • Excellent solar reflectivity
  • Reinforced membrane
  • Application in one coat
  • Seamless
  • Fully flexible
  • Indefinite shelf life

  • Economical

Roofing Felt Adhesive

A solvent based cold applied bituminous adhesive for bonding successive layers of roofing felt. Porous surfaces should be treated with a coating of Bitumen Primer and allowed to dry thoroughly. Allow adhesive to develop a tacky surface before overlaying with felt (approximately 15 minutes to 1 hour, however this is totally dependant on weather conditions). NB - If the felt is applied too soon, the drying time of the adhesive will be extended. After laying the felt, it should be rolled immediately to expel any trapped air. When felting upstands, adhesive should be applied to both substrate and felt. Timber roofs should have the first layer of felt nailed down in accordance with BS Code of Practice 144, part 3 and the following layers bonded with Cromar Roofing Felt Adhesive as described. Cromar Roofing Felt Adhesive can be used to bond overlaps on single layer felt installations that are nailed to timber substrates. Ensure area to form lap is completely coated with adhesive and press firmly together to expel entrapped air when it becomes tacky. The lap should then be nailed with galvanised clout head nails to ensure a secure bond. Coverage depends on the porosity of the surface being treated. However, guideline coverage rates are as follows: FELT ADHESIVE - 1 litre per 0.25 m2 to 1 litre per 2 m2. LAPS ONLY 1 litre per 20 linear metres of 75mm wide overlap. Drying times will vary depending on weather conditions, film thickness and the time allowed for a tack to develop. Heavy applications will result in extended drying times. After use, replace lid firmly and shake to ensure an airtight seal. Shelf life is indefinite if the conatainer is kept sealed and is stored in a dry area at temperatures between 8°C and 25°C.

Trowel Mastic

A heavily bodied, bituminous mastic that is used for filling joints, cracks and splits in roofing and building materials including roofing felt, asphalt, concrete, asbestos cement and metallic guttering and drainpipes.  It is resistant to water penetration immediately after application and is ideally suited for maintenance and remedial work. It is necessary to check  bolt heads on roof sheets and should it be required, wire brush to remove rust before sealing with Cromar Trowel Mastic.  Porous surfaces should be primed with Bituminous Primer in order to seal the surface and allowed to dry thoroughly.
