Frank Ratcliffe Roofing would like to welcome Roto to their range of roof windows.
I was invited by Roto roof windows on a VIP trip to Germany in late November 2009 to see the company and get a feel of how it worked and get a full factory tour. I must stress at this point that it was amazing. Let me tell you that the Germans take manufacturing very very seriously. They manufacture their own double glazed and now even a tripple glazed unit on their R8 series which incidentally has a U value of 0.84.
My first day included a 2 hour lesson on the range of windows and the different glasses and the hardware. We discussed what sells in Germany against what sells in the U.K. I must say that I was surprised to see that in Germany they only sold UPVC top hung and that wooden windows were only manufactured for the the U.K market.
I was then taken on a factory tour which lasted 1 hour and from that moment on nothing failed to impress me about Roto. We went to dinner in the Roto dining hall were the food was fantastic, then the afternoon was spent being trained about the windows and how to fit the windows properly.
Later on we had some refreshments and to top the night off we had belly dancers and drank lots of German Weiss Beer. The next morning was all about solar roof systems and I was put on to a mini bus which bombed it down the autobahn at 170 kph to Frankfurt airport with a packed lunch thrown in.
What more can I say other than thank you Roto and I look forward to a long a beneficial mutual business relationship.
