Solar Panels

We are proud to be part of Gecko Solar Energy who are currently gaining their MCS accreditation through NAPIT. Once the MCS is achieved we will be installing photovoltaic on roof and in roof solar panels for the generation of electricity.

Fitting a Solar PanelIf you are eligible to receive the FIT (Feed In Tariff) then you will benefit in 3 ways:

1. Generation tariff - a set rate paid by the energy supplier for each unit (or kWh) of electricity you generate. This rate will change each year for new entrants to the scheme (except for the first 2 years), but once you join you will continue on the same tariff for 20 years, or 25 years in the case of solar electricity (PV). currently 43.3p/kWh

2. Export tariff - you will receive a further 3p/kWh from your energy supplier for each unit you export back to the electricity grid, that is when it isn't used on site. The export rate is the same for all technologies.

3. Energy bill savings - you will be making savings on your electricity bills , because generating electricity to power your appliances means you don't have to buy as much electricity from your energy supplier. The amount you save will vary depending how much of the electricity you use on site.

Why choose Photovoltaic ?

The most obvious advantage of using a Photovoltaic system is to provide electricity that is pollution-free, with no emissions of any kind, potentially saving up to 1200kg of carbon every year.

Other benefits include:

  • Requires little maintenance with no moving parts
  • No noise pollution
  • Works on daylight not sunlight
  • Energy is produced where it is used, so little energy is lost moving it around
  • Use of solar energy means there is less reliance on imported fuel
  • Solar energy operates independently and is not affected by fluctuations in fossil fuel prices
  • Photovoltaic systems typically last 20-25 years
  • Pv modules fall within permitted development rights and so usually require no planning permission, unlike other renewable sources.
  • An energy saving installation can add value to your property as it makes it more efficient
  • The payback period is typically less than 10 years at current electricity costs but is likely to reduce as prices increase
  • Easy to integrate into new and existing houses

Roto

Roto are also manufacturers of Solar panels. We are excited to be part of Roto and understand them to also be going through MCS accreditation. MCS the Microregeneration Certification Scheme is making sure that all products and installers are qualified to do the job.
